Description
This is a set of five cream paper Christmas trees, each one a cone of folded paper rising in tiers. No two are the same. The tallest stands 22.5cm tall and 8cm across, with four slim tiers on a short base. The widest is 20cm tall and 12.5cm across, a fuller cone of three broad layers. Then come a narrow tree of many fine tiers, 17.5cm tall and 7.5cm across, a smaller one 12.5cm tall and 7.5cm across, and the littlest at 9cm tall and 5cm across.
Because the heights vary, the five group well together: stand them in a row down the middle of the dining table on Christmas Day, cluster them at one end of a mantelpiece, or spread them along a windowsill, a sideboard or a hallway console. At 0.15KG for all five, they are light enough to move about as plans change, and small enough for a bookshelf or a desk at work. They suit anyone who wants the look of a Christmas tree in a flat or a small room where a real tree will not fit, and they make an easy gift for a friend in a first home.
Each tree is made from paper folded into close pleats, which give the branches their ridged, layered look, and the edges carry a printed finish that picks out the tips of every tier. The cream is soft and warm, so it sits easily beside natural linen, wood, rattan and winter greenery. Paper is light and does not take well to damp, so keep the trees somewhere dry, both on display and when they are packed away after Christmas. We like to set the tallest and widest trees at the back of a group with the small ones in front, and tuck a sprig of foliage or a few berry stems between them for a little woodland scene.
