Description
The Mika is a 6-8 seater extendable dining table built around a sculptural polished stainless steel base and a 12mm tempered safety glass top with polished edges. The table extends from 160cm to 229cm using a pull-out mechanism housed within the glass top itself, allowing the table to seat six for everyday meals and expand to accommodate eight when hosting.
Designed for modern open-plan dining areas, the Mika pairs a transparent glass surface that keeps sightlines open across the room with a geometric steel base that anchors the table visually without the mass of a solid pedestal or four-leg frame. The extension mechanism operates without needing to store separate leaves — the additional surface area slides out from beneath the main glass panel and locks into place. At 75cm height the table suits standard dining chairs with seat heights of 45-47cm.
The polished stainless steel base is formed from angular interlocking panels that create faceted reflections and shift in appearance depending on viewing angle and room lighting. The high-gloss finish on the steel picks up ambient and directed light, which can add a sense of brightness to darker dining areas or amplify natural light in south- or west-facing rooms. The glass top sits on rubber isolation pads that protect both surfaces and reduce the transmission of vibration or noise from cutlery and crockery to the steel frame. At 95.9kg the table requires two people for assembly and positioning.
The transparent glass suits interiors where maintaining visual openness matters — smaller dining areas where a solid-top table would create a heavy visual block, or rooms with statement flooring (marble, patterned tile, herringbone parquet) that you want to remain visible beneath the table. The combination of glass and polished steel pairs well with chrome, nickel and brass lighting fixtures, leather or velvet upholstered chairs, and marble or lacquered sideboards. Frequently Asked
How does the extension mechanism work?
The Mika extends from 160cm to 229cm using a pull-out mechanism integrated into the glass top. The additional surface area slides out from beneath the main panel and locks into place without requiring separate leaves to be stored or fitted.
How many people does it seat when extended?
The table seats six at 160cm length and eight at 229cm extended length, assuming standard dining chair widths of 50-55cm and allowing elbow room between seated diners.
Is the glass top tempered safety glass?
Yes. The 12mm glass top is tempered safety glass, which is heat-treated to increase impact resistance. If broken, tempered glass shatters into small granular chunks rather than large sharp shards.
Can the table be assembled by one person?
At 95.9kg the table requires two people for safe assembly and positioning. The glass top and steel base are shipped as separate components and must be joined during assembly following the supplied instruction sheet.
