Description

Mesh is a pendant in opal. A squat opal ellipsoid, much wider than it is tall, with a faint grid pressed into the glass so a fine mesh pattern shows across the surface without breaking the outline. The glass is warm white and thick, and the grid reads only as a pale texture when the lamp is off and as a soft check when it is lit. It hangs from a flat black disc cap that sits tight on the top of the glass, with a short grey stem above it and a plain black flex. There is no rim and no visible fixing. The form is low and flat and hangs close under the ceiling. It measures 20cm across.

It suits a table, an island or a hallway, hung low enough to be looked at rather than into. Hang it so the bottom of the shade sits about 80cm above the surface, a little higher if people walk beneath it rather than sit under it. Hung at that height the shade is read as an object in the room rather than as a source, and the light lands on the table instead of in the eyes of the people round it.

The holder is G9 and takes up to 28W. It is rated IP20, for dry indoor rooms.

Which bulb does it take?

A G9 lamp up to 28W. Bulbs are supplied separately so you can choose the brightness and colour you want.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, on a compatible dimmer, provided the lamp you fit is a dimmable one. The fitting has no dimmer of its own.

How high should it hang above a dining table?

About 80cm from the table top to the bottom of the shade. Go higher over an island people walk past, and lower over a table nobody passes beneath.

Can it go in a bathroom?

No. It is IP20, which covers dry interior rooms only. A bathroom needs IP44 or better.
