Description

The Mercury is a 6-gang extension lead with built-in surge and spike protection, a 2m cable and a neon power indicator. The surge protection circuit guards connected equipment from voltage spikes caused by lightning strikes, mains switching events and electrical faults, making it suitable for computers, routers, audio equipment and other sensitive electronics that can be damaged by sudden voltage changes.

Designed for desktop, workshop and home office use, the extension lead supplies six UK 13A sockets from a single mains outlet. The 2m cable length allows placement under desks, behind furniture or along skirting boards without excessive cable pooling. Two keyholes on the rear of the housing allow the lead to be wall-mounted above a worktop or bench, keeping the sockets accessible and the cable run tidy.

The white thermoplastic housing is non-rewireable and conforms to BS1363/A, the UK standard for plugs, socket-outlets and adaptors. The 3 x 1.25mm² cable is rated for 250V mains supply. The neon indicator glows when the lead is powered and switched on, providing visual confirmation that the circuit is live.

Frequently Asked

What does the surge protection cover?

The surge protection circuit absorbs voltage spikes and surges caused by lightning strikes, mains switching and electrical faults. It does not protect against continuous overvoltage or brownouts, and cannot prevent damage from a direct lightning strike to the building wiring.

Can the lead be wall-mounted?

Yes. Two keyholes on the rear of the housing allow the lead to be mounted to a wall or vertical surface using screws, keeping the sockets accessible above a worktop or desk.

What is the total load capacity?

Each socket is rated at 13A. The total load across all six sockets should not exceed 13A (approximately 3,120W at 240V), as the plug feeding the extension lead is itself rated at 13A.

Is the cable replaceable if damaged?

No. The housing is non-rewireable. If the cable is damaged, the entire extension lead must be replaced.
