Description

The Mercury is a 1-gang extension lead with a 3m white cable, a 13A UK 3-pin plug at one end and a single 13A socket at the other. The plug is rewireable, allowing the cable to be replaced or repaired if the outer sheath is damaged, rather than discarding the entire lead. The extension conforms to BS1363/A, the British Standard for 13A plugs, socket-outlets and adaptors.

Designed for temporary additional socket capacity in homes, offices and workshops where a fixed wall socket is too far from the appliance. The 3m cable length suits most room layouts, reaching from skirting-board sockets to desks, bedside tables, kitchen worktops or floor-standing appliances without excess cable coiled on the floor. The 13A rating handles most UK household appliances up to 3,120W, including kettles, vacuum cleaners, desk lamps and computer equipment.

The white cable blends with standard white skirting and walls, reducing visual clutter in living rooms, bedrooms and offices. The single-gang format keeps the footprint small, with no multi-gang housing that might obstruct other sockets or furniture placement. The rewireable plug means the fuse can be replaced and the internal connections checked or re-terminated if the lead develops a fault.

Frequently Asked

What does rewireable mean?

The plug can be opened with a screwdriver, allowing the cable to be replaced or the internal connections re-terminated if the cable is damaged. Non-rewireable plugs are moulded in one piece and cannot be opened.

Can it be used outdoors?

No. This extension lead has no IP rating and is designed for indoor use only. For outdoor or damp locations, choose an extension lead rated IP44 or higher.

What appliances can it power?

The 13A rating handles appliances up to 3,120W, including most household devices such as kettles, vacuum cleaners, desk lamps, laptop chargers, and kitchen appliances. Do not use it for continuous high-draw appliances like electric heaters or tumble dryers on a single gang.

Is the cable flexible enough to route around furniture?

Yes. The white PVC-sheathed cable is flexible and can be routed along skirting boards, under desks or around furniture legs. Avoid sharp bends or pinching the cable under furniture castors.
