Description

Our Melike vase is a round glass vase, 20cm across and 18.5cm tall, with a full, rounded body and a small, neat mouth. It is made of 100% glass, yet the surface has a soft, matt, frosted look rather than a shine, which gives the blue a chalky, stone-like depth. A single darker band wraps around the middle, slightly uneven at its edges, so the stripe looks loose and organic rather than ruled. Because the mouth is small against the full body, the outline stays clean from every side.

At 18.5cm tall it sits comfortably on a bookshelf, a sideboard, a console table or a mantelpiece, where it holds its place beside books and smaller pieces without crowding them. The small mouth gathers a handful of stems into a neat bunch, so it suits dried flowers, grasses and seed heads, or a couple of long stems for height. Left empty, it still works as a sculptural object, the blue and the band doing all the work. It belongs in a living room, hallway, bedroom or study, and makes a thoughtful gift for anyone who likes calm, natural colour at home.

The vase is 100% glass and weighs 1.75KG, so it has a solid, reassuring weight in the hand and sits firmly once placed. Look closely and the frosted surface shows faint specks and soft markings within the glass, and the band thins and thickens a little as it travels around the curve; these small irregularities are part of its character. The styling props shown are not included. For styling, pair it with natural wood, rattan and linen, where the blue reads calm against warm, pale tones, or group it with other rounded pieces of differing heights for a relaxed display on a shelf.
