Description
Marlie is a round tray made entirely of marble, 22.5cm across and 2.5cm tall, with a scalloped edge and broad fluted grooves that fan out from a smooth centre to the rim, like the ribs of a shell. The stone is beige, flecked with darker patches and fine pale veins, and the polished finish lifts that pattern and gives the surface a soft sheen. Natural marble varies from block to block, so no two pieces carry quite the same markings. At 1.94KG it has real weight for its size and sits firmly wherever you place it.
It is approved for use with food, so it can go straight to the table as a small serving tray: a wedge of cheese and crackers, a few pastries with coffee, or sliced fruit for two. At 22.5cm across it is close to side plate size, compact enough for a coffee table, a breakfast tray or a kitchen counter. Away from food it works hard too, as a catch-all on a dressing table for rings and other jewellery, a landing place for keys and sunglasses on a hall console, or a base for a candle or a small vase on a shelf. The gently dished centre gives small pieces somewhere to sit, and its weight keeps it steady in use.
The tray is solid marble with a polished finish. It is not dishwasher, microwave or oven safe, so it stays out of all three and is one to wash by hand. Marble is a soft, porous stone that can be marked by acidic foods such as citrus, vinegar or wine, so it pays to wipe spills away promptly and avoid leaving lemons sitting on the surface. For styling, it looks at home among natural linen, rough wood and a sprig of dried flowers, and a single pillar candle on it turns a bedside table or a mantelpiece into a small, settled arrangement.

Frequently Asked
Is the tray made of real marble?
Yes. It is 100% marble with a polished finish, so the veining and darker flecks across the surface belong to the stone itself.
Can I put it in the dishwasher?
No. The tray is not dishwasher safe, and it is not microwave or oven safe either, so it is one to wash by hand.
Can I serve food on it?
Yes. It is approved for use with food, so it suits cheese, pastries or fruit. Marble can be marked by acids, so wipe away citrus or wine promptly.
How big is the tray?
It is 22.5cm across and 2.5cm tall, close to side plate size, and it weighs 1.94KG, so it feels solid and substantial in the hand.
What else can I use it for besides serving?
It makes a tidy catch-all for rings and other jewellery on a dressing table, a place for keys in the hall, or a base for a candle or small vase.
