Description

This round side plate is made from 100% stoneware and built around a bold central flower: a ring of open petals circles two concentric rings, while a border of looped scallops, each holding a small circle, runs just inside the rim. The pattern is brown throughout, applied as a decal and then finished with hand-painted detailing, so the decoration is worked by hand as well as printed. At 20cm across and 3cm tall it is a true side plate size, smaller than a dinner plate, with a low, gently raised rim that holds crumbs and a little dressing in place.

A plate of this size is the one for toast and pastries at breakfast, a slice of cake with afternoon tea, a starter or small salad before the main course, or bread set beside a dinner plate.
