Maien Striped Stoneware Vases 14cm Set of 7 - Multi

Seven small stoneware vases make up this set, each one handpainted with its own glaze and pattern. Two carry fine vertical stripes, one is covered in dots, one has a soft speckle through the glaze, and three have the glaze split into two bands, with a clear line around the body where one tone meets the next. Four are short and rounded with a narrow neck; three are taller bottle shapes with a longer neck. The maker gives the size as 14cm tall and 7cm across, which makes these bud vases for a single stem rather than a full bunch. The multicoloured mix is the point, and they look their best grouped.

Small vases earn their place where a larger one would crowd the space: a bookshelf, a windowsill, a mantelpiece or the middle of a side table. Line all seven along a shelf in their two heights, or split them up around the house, a pair on a bedside table and a few on a desk or a hallway console. A single stem, a sprig of dried grass or one bloom is enough for each, which makes them an easy way to bring colour into a living room, a bedroom or a home office. As a group they also make a cheerful gift for someone setting up a first home.

The vases are made of 100% stoneware, a dense, hard-wearing ceramic, and every pattern is painted by hand, so the stripes and dots have the slight looseness of a brush rather than a print. They are not dishwasher, microwave or oven safe, so keep them out of all three and clean them by hand. For the neatest arrangement, set the three taller vases at the back and the four short ones in front, and mix the patterns so that no two striped pieces stand side by side.

What material are the vases?

They are made of 100% stoneware, a dense, hard-wearing ceramic, and each one is finished by hand with its own painted pattern.

How big are they?

The maker gives the size as 14cm tall and 7cm across. The seven come in two heights: four short, rounded vases and three taller bottle shapes.

How many vases come in the set?

You get seven vases, each with its own pattern: two with stripes, one with dots, one with a speckled glaze and three with the glaze split into two bands.

Can they go in the dishwasher?

No. They are not dishwasher safe, so keep them out of the dishwasher and clean them by hand to look after the painted finish.

What will fit in them?

Each vase has a narrow neck, so they suit a single stem, a small sprig or a few dried grasses rather than a full bouquet.

Are they all the same colour?

No. The set is multicoloured, with a different glaze and pattern on every vase, so they look best grouped on a shelf or a table.
