Description

Magni is a table lamp in black. A large round magnifying head ringed in black, carried on a long black sprung arm that folds at a central knuckle like a drawing-board lamp. The lens sits in a lit ring, so the work under it is thrown into even light from every side, and a small handle stands up on the head for moving it. The arm is a pair of flat black struts with polished springs and bright pivots at every joint, and it ends in a screw clamp that grips a desk edge. Everything but the lens and the springs is matt black.

It is a lamp for a side table, a desk or a bedside, close enough to reach the switch from where you sit, and it lights the surface it stands on rather than the whole room. A pair either side of a bed or a sofa reads as deliberate where one alone reads as an afterthought, and two smaller lamps light a room more evenly than one large one.

The LED is built in at 7W, so there is no bulb to buy and none to fit. It is rated IP20, for dry indoor rooms. It carries a G energy label.

Do I need to buy a bulb?

No. The LED is built into the fitting, so there is nothing to buy and nothing to fit.

What happens when the LED fails?

The fitting is replaced rather than relamped. At 7W and normal domestic use that is many years away.

Can it go in a bathroom?

No. It is IP20, which covers dry interior rooms only. A bathroom needs IP44 or better.
