Description

The LYYT recessed T-profile is a 1m extruded aluminium channel designed for flush LED tape installation in walls, ceilings and joinery. The T-shaped cross-section sits within a routed groove or cut-out, with only the 14mm-wide diffuser visible once installed, creating a continuous linear light feature without surface-mounted profiles breaking the plane of the wall or ceiling.

Suited to architectural lighting applications in kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms and commercial interiors, the profile holds LED tape up to 12.5mm wide within its internal channel. The snap-fit polycarbonate diffuser softens direct LED points into a uniform line of light and clips into place without tools or adhesive. Spring clips on the underside of the profile hold it securely in the routed channel during installation, and aluminium end caps close both ends of the profile once the tape is fitted.

The 25mm external width and 18.5mm height require a corresponding groove to be cut into the mounting surface before installation. Once the LED tape is laid into the 12.5mm internal channel and wired, the diffuser snaps over the top and the spring clips are compressed to seat the profile flush with the surrounding surface. The aluminium body acts as a heatsink for the LED tape, extending diode life compared to tape mounted directly onto plasterboard or timber.

What size groove is needed for installation?

The profile requires a routed channel approximately 25mm wide and 18.5mm deep. The exact depth can vary slightly depending on how flush you want the diffuser to sit relative to the surrounding surface. Most installers route a channel 19-20mm deep to allow the diffuser to sit fractionally proud for easier clip removal if maintenance is needed.

What width LED tape does it accept?

The internal channel is 12.5mm wide, so LED tape up to 12mm width fits comfortably. Standard 10mm and 12mm LED tapes are the most common pairings. Wider tapes will not fit within the channel.

Is the diffuser removable after installation?

Yes. The polycarbonate diffuser snaps into grooves on either side of the aluminium channel and can be removed by hand or with a flat tool to access the LED tape for replacement or maintenance. The spring clips hold the profile in place independently of the diffuser.

Can multiple profiles be joined end-to-end?

The profiles can be butted together within a continuous routed channel to create runs longer than 1m. LED tape typically comes in 5m reels, so multiple profiles are often used along a single tape run. Small gaps between profile ends are hidden by the continuous diffuser line once the tape is lit.
