Description

The LYYT recessed LED strip profile is a 2m aluminium channel designed to sit flush with the surface into which it's installed, concealing LED tape behind an 11mm-wide snap-fit diffuser. The external cross-section measures 22mm x 6mm, with an internal channel of 11mm x 4mm to house LED strip tape up to 10mm wide.

Designed for under-cabinet lighting, shelving accent lighting, and architectural inlays where the fitting itself should be invisible, the recessed format sits within a routed groove or rebate in wood, MDF or plasterboard. The diffuser clips into the channel and sits flush with the surrounding surface once installed, creating a continuous line of light without visible hardware. The aluminium extrusion acts as a heat sink for the LED tape, extending diode lifespan and preventing thermal degradation of adhesives.

The profile is supplied in a single 2m length with end caps and mounting clips. It can be cut to length on-site using a hacksaw or mitre saw to match cabinet widths or shelf runs. The 11mm visible width of the diffuser makes it suitable for minimalist and contemporary installations where a narrow light slot is preferred over a wider diffused channel. The snap-fit diffuser can be removed for cleaning or LED tape replacement without removing the entire extrusion from the installation.

What depth of groove is needed for installation?

The profile requires a routed groove 22mm wide and at least 6mm deep to sit flush with the surface. For clean installation, route the groove 23mm wide to allow fitting tolerance.

What width of LED tape does it accept?

The internal channel measures 11mm x 4mm, so LED strip tape up to 10mm wide and 3mm thick will fit comfortably. Standard 8mm and 10mm LED tape is compatible.

Can the profile be cut to length?

Yes. The 2m extrusion can be cut to length using a hacksaw or fine-tooth mitre saw blade. Cut ends should be deburred before fitting end caps.

Is the diffuser removable after installation?

Yes. The diffuser snaps into the channel and can be removed for cleaning or LED tape replacement without removing the aluminium extrusion from the routed groove.
