Description
The LYYT 5m RGB LED strip light kit includes a 5-metre reel of IP65-rated LED tape, a 12V mains power supply, an IR remote controller and the connection accessories needed to get the installation running. The tape itself carries 30 SMD5050 RGB LEDs per metre, giving 150 LEDs across the full 5m length, with each LED capable of displaying red, green or blue independently to create colour-changing effects controlled from the included remote.
Designed for accent lighting in homes, motor homes, caravans, under-cabinet installations, cove lighting and vehicle interiors, the strip can be cut at 10cm intervals to fit exact lengths without wasting tape. The transparent silicone coating over the LEDs provides IP65-rated protection against dust and water jets, making the strip suitable for kitchens, bathrooms and outdoor installations under shelter. The self-adhesive backing allows the tape to be pressed directly onto clean, dry surfaces without additional fixings.
The 12V operation keeps the installation low-voltage, and the included UK mains adaptor converts 230V down to 12V DC before the tape. The IR remote offers colour selection, brightness adjustment and dynamic colour-changing modes. For runs longer than 5m, the strip can be extended using an RGB amplifier (AVSL 153.771UK) and splitter (153.900UK), sold separately. Power consumption is 7.2W per metre, so the full 5m reel draws 36W at maximum brightness across all three colour channels.

Frequently Asked
Can the strip be cut to shorter lengths?
Yes. The tape can be cut at 10cm intervals along its length, marked by cut points on the strip itself. Cutting at other points will damage the circuit and void the warranty.
What does IP65 mean for installation?
IP65 means the strip is protected against dust ingress and water jets from any direction. It can be used in bathrooms, kitchens and outdoor installations under shelter, but should not be submerged or exposed to heavy rain without additional protection.
How is the strip powered?
The kit includes a 12V DC mains power supply with a UK plug. The power supply connects to the IR controller, which then connects to the strip. The full 5m reel draws 36W at maximum brightness.
Can the strip be extended beyond 5 metres?
Yes, using an RGB amplifier (AVSL 153.771UK) and splitter (153.900UK), sold separately. The amplifier boosts the signal to maintain colour consistency and brightness across longer runs.
