Description
The LYYT 24V RGB LED strip light is a 5m reel carrying 30 Epistar RGB5050 LEDs per metre, each LED producing 6000 millicandelas across red, green and blue channels. The strip runs on 24V DC supply at 7.2W per metre and requires an external RGB controller to switch colours and create effects. The 12mm-wide strip comes with a self-adhesive backing and an IP65 epoxy coating that seals the LEDs against moisture and general wear.
Designed for accent lighting in bars, retail displays, home cinema installations, vehicle interiors and architectural cove lighting, the strip can be cut at 200mm intervals to fit the exact length needed. The 140-degree beam angle from each LED provides wide lateral spread when mounted behind a diffuser or along a ledge. The adhesive backing holds the strip to clean, dry surfaces including metal, wood, acrylic and painted plasterboard, though additional mounting clips are recommended for longer runs or curved installations.
The strip operates at 300mA per metre and outputs 400 lumens per metre when all three RGB channels are lit simultaneously. The 24V DC input allows for longer cable runs than 12V strips before voltage drop becomes noticeable, making this suitable for installations up to 5m on a single power supply. Beyond 5m, an RGB amplifier (AVSL 153.771UK, sold separately) is required to maintain consistent brightness. The strip pairs with RGB controllers including the AVSL 153.797UK standard controller, 153.777UK DMX controller, or 153.896UK WiFi controller (all sold separately).
The Epistar RGB5050 LEDs are rated to 50,000 hours at typical operating temperatures. The IP65 rating protects against low-pressure water jets and dust ingress, making the strip suitable for bathrooms, covered outdoor installations, and environments where occasional moisture exposure is expected. The epoxy coating allows cleaning with a damp cloth without exposing the electrical contacts.

Frequently Asked
What controller does this strip require?
The strip requires an external RGB controller to switch colours and create effects. It is compatible with the AVSL 153.797UK standard RGB controller, 153.777UK DMX controller, and 153.896UK WiFi controller, all sold separately. Without a controller, the strip will not light.
Can it be used outdoors?
The IP65 rating protects against moisture and dust, making it suitable for covered outdoor installations where it is shielded from direct rain. It is not submersible and should not be exposed to continuous water spray or standing water.
How is it powered?
The strip runs on 24V DC supply at 7.2W per metre, so a 5m reel requires a 36W (or higher) 24V DC power supply. The power supply is sold separately. Longer runs beyond 5m require an RGB amplifier to maintain consistent brightness.
Where can it be cut?
The strip can be cut at 200mm intervals, marked along the length of the tape. Cutting outside these points will damage the LEDs in that section. Solder connection accessories are included for joining cut sections to controllers or amplifiers.
