Description

The LYYT 12V SMD2835 LED strip light delivers 720 lumens per metre across a 5m reel of flexible tape, with 60 SMD2835 LEDs per metre emitting 3000K warm white light. The strip runs on 12V DC and draws 4.8W per metre, with a total power consumption of 24W for the full 5m length. An IP65 epoxy coating seals the strip against moisture and dust ingress, making it suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, under-cabinet installations, and sheltered outdoor positions.

Designed for both residential and commercial use, the strip suits under-cabinet task lighting, cove lighting along ceilings or plinths, accent lighting in retail displays, and vehicle interior installations. The flexible 10.5mm-wide tape conforms to curved surfaces and tight corners, and the self-adhesive backing bonds to clean, dry surfaces including wood, metal, glass and painted walls. The strip can be cut every 5cm along marked cutting points, allowing length to be tailored to the exact run without waste.

The SMD2835 LED package emits 3996 millicandelas per diode with a 140-degree beam angle, producing even wash light without visible hotspotting when mounted behind a diffuser or recessed channel. LEDs are spaced 16mm apart along the tape, creating smooth, continuous light output rather than individual points. The strip's 50,000-hour rated lifespan translates to over 11 years of continuous operation or more than 20 years on typical 6-hour-per-day use cycles.

Connection accessories are included with the strip. The 12V supply requires a separate LED driver (sold separately) — calculate total wattage by multiplying the length in metres by 4.8W/m, then select a driver with at least 20% overhead capacity. For example, the full 5m reel needs a minimum 30W driver to accommodate the 24W load plus safety margin.

What power supply does this strip need?

The strip runs on 12V DC at 4.8W per metre. For the full 5m reel you need a 12V LED driver rated at minimum 30W to accommodate the 24W load plus safety margin. Drivers are sold separately.

Can it be used outdoors?

The IP65 rating protects against moisture and dust, so the strip can be used in sheltered outdoor positions such as under eaves, in covered porches, or inside IP-rated enclosures. It is not rated for full weather exposure or submersion.

How do I cut the strip to length?

The strip has marked cutting points every 5cm along its length. Cut only at these points with sharp scissors to avoid damaging the circuitry. Each 5cm section contains three LEDs.

Is the adhesive strong enough for permanent installation?

The self-adhesive backing bonds well to clean, dry, smooth surfaces. For long-term or high-temperature installations, additional support with mounting clips or a recessed aluminium channel is recommended to prevent sagging.
