Description
The LYYT 12V Red LED Strip is a 5m reel of low-voltage red LED tape with 60 SMD3528 LEDs per metre, each spaced 16mm apart and coated in an IP65-rated epoxy layer. The strip runs on 12Vdc at 4.8W per metre, drawing 400mA per metre of installed length, and can be cut at 5cm intervals to fit custom runs. An adhesive backing on the reverse allows the strip to be fixed directly to clean, dry surfaces without additional mounting hardware.
Designed for signage backlighting, stage accent lighting, retail displays, vehicle interiors and decorative home installations where red light is needed, the strip emits 60 lumens per metre at a 140-degree beam angle. The red LEDs produce saturated colour output rather than white light filtered through red plastic, giving more intensity and less wasted energy than colour-gelled alternatives. The IP65 coating protects against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, making the strip suitable for damp locations, outdoor canopies under cover, and vehicle engine bays where moisture and vibration are present.
The 5m reel weighs 210g and measures 10.5mm wide by 2.55mm thick when laid flat. Each SMD3528 LED outputs 600 millicandelas, and the strip is rated for up to 50,000 hours of operation at typical ambient temperatures. The strip ships with connection accessories for wiring to a 12Vdc power supply (sold separately). Standard 12V LED drivers and automotive 12V systems are both compatible.

Frequently Asked
What power supply does the strip need?
The strip runs on 12Vdc and draws 400mA per metre installed. A 5m reel draws 2A total, so a 12V power supply rated for at least 24W (2A) is required. Power supplies are sold separately.
Can the strip be used outdoors?
The IP65 epoxy coating protects against dust and low-pressure water jets, making the strip suitable for damp outdoor locations under cover such as canopies, eaves and pergolas. It is not rated for full submersion or direct exposure to heavy rain.
How is the strip cut to length?
The strip can be cut at 5cm intervals along marked cut points on the tape. Cutting outside these marked points will damage the circuit and leave a non-functional segment.
Is the adhesive backing reusable?
No. The adhesive backing is single-use. Once the strip is peeled and applied to a surface, removing it will compromise the adhesive and require alternative fixing methods such as mounting clips or cable ties.
