20W 300 x 600 LED Panel - 2,000lm - 5,000K Daylight

Our 20W LED panel measures 300 x 600mm and gives 2,000 lumens at 5,000K. The light emitting diodes are built into the body behind a diffusing face, which is what separates a panel from a downlight: the whole surface lights up at one even level rather than casting a bright pool directly below it. There is no separate lamp to buy with it and none to swap out later. 5,000K sits at the daylight end of the white scale, a crisp white with no yellow in it, which is the colour most people reach for when they want to see detail clearly.

Two thousand lumens across a 300 x 600 face is a working light rather than a background one. It earns its place over a run of worktop, in a home office, a utility room, a garage or a workshop, and in narrow spaces such as a corridor or a landing where a square panel would look oversized. The white frame is deliberately plain, so it reads as part of the ceiling rather than as a fitting hanging off it, and the flat face collects far less dust than an open shade or an upturned bowl.

The manufacturer does not say whether the panel dims, so run it from a plain on and off switch; a dimmer left in the circuit on a non dimmable driver is the usual cause of flicker and early failure. The manufacturer states no IP rating, and an unrated fitting carries no claim of protection against moisture or dust, so plan the position accordingly. One unit is one panel, and the minimum order is one, so you can buy a single unit to fill a gap in an existing ceiling or order enough to light a whole room in one go. At 20W each, a run of them adds up to very little on the meter.

Can I dim this panel?

The manufacturer does not state that it dims, so run it from an ordinary on and off switch. Leaving a wall dimmer in the circuit will usually give you flicker, buzzing or a shortened life.

What does 5,000K daylight actually look like in a room?

It is a cool, crisp white with no warmth in it, so colours and printed detail read clearly. Next to the 2,700K warm white most sitting rooms use, it feels brighter and much less cosy.

Is a driver supplied with the panel?

The manufacturer does not state whether a driver is included or what type it is, so check the box contents and the driver specification before you book an electrician to fit it.

Do the LEDs get replaced when they fail?

No. The light source is built into the panel rather than plugged into a cap, so there is nothing to unscrew and nothing to buy as a spare lamp for it.

How many will I need to light a room?

Each panel gives 2,000 lumens. A small utility room or a short run of worktop is usually well covered by one, while a larger open room generally takes several, spaced evenly across the ceiling.

What opening does it need in the ceiling?

The body measures 300 x 600mm. The manufacturer does not state a cut-out figure or a mounting method, so measure your aperture or grid against those dimensions before you commit to it.
