Description

The Lumi is a 600x600mm recessed LED panel light with selectable colour temperature (CCT), allowing the installer to choose between 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white or 5700K daylight at the point of installation. The backlit design delivers up to 4,100 lumens at 4000K from a 30W LED array housed behind a prismatic diffuser rated UGR19 for glare control in office and classroom environments.

Designed as a direct retrofit for aging T8 and T5 fluorescent modular fittings in commercial buildings, schools, offices and healthcare ancillary spaces, the panel fits standard 600x600mm suspended ceiling grids with either 15mm or 25mm profiles. The white aluminium frame sits 9mm below the grid surface once installed, with the diffuser presenting a flat, flush-mounted appearance from below. The panel is 0-10V dimmable, requiring a compatible 0-10V dimmer control to adjust light output.

The aluminium construction and Class II double-insulated rating mean no earth connection is required during installation. At 25mm depth the panel fits shallow ceiling voids where older luminaires may have required deeper cavities. The prismatic diffuser spreads light across a 90-degree beam angle, providing even distribution across workspaces without hot spots. Efficacy ranges from 123lm/W at 3000K to 134lm/W at 4000K, meeting modern commercial lighting efficiency requirements. Rated L70B50 at 50,000 hours, the panel is expected to retain 70% of initial output after approximately 11 years of continuous operation.

What does CCT mean and how is it selected?

CCT stands for correlated colour temperature. This panel has three settings: 3000K (warm white), 4000K (neutral white), and 5700K (daylight). The installer selects the required colour temperature via a switch on the driver before final installation. Once set, the colour temperature is fixed until the panel is reopened and adjusted.

What ceiling grid profiles does it fit?

The Lumi fits standard 600x600mm suspended ceiling grids with either 15mm or 25mm T-bar profiles. The panel frame rests on the grid with a 9mm projection below the ceiling surface. For plasterboard or solid ceilings, separate recessed mounting clips are available from Knightsbridge.

Is it compatible with standard dimmer switches?

No. The panel requires a 0-10V dimmer control system, which is different from standard trailing-edge or leading-edge domestic dimmers. If no 0-10V dimmer is wired, the panel operates at full output. Attempting to use a standard household dimmer will not work and may damage the driver.

What is the UGR19 rating?

UGR (Unified Glare Rating) measures discomfort glare from a luminaire. UGR19 is the maximum permitted rating for most office and classroom environments under building regulations. The Lumi's prismatic diffuser achieves UGR19 by diffusing the LED array evenly without bright spots that cause eye strain during prolonged use.
