Description
The Lora is a pillar candle holder forged from a single piece of iron, 22.5cm tall with a dish 10.5cm across. It stands on a wide conical foot that draws in to a slender waist, then opens out again into a shallow round dish with a low turned up lip. The foot and the stem are worked in flat facets where the metal has been struck, so the light breaks across them in planes rather than running smoothly down. The finish is a warm aged brass, browner in the hollows and paler where the facets stand proud.
A pillar candle stands on the dish rather than dropping into a socket, so the width of the candle is a matter of choice, and the turned up lip holds the wax that runs off it. At 22.5cm the flame sits well above a table top rather than on it, which suits a side table beside a chair, a console, or a mantelpiece where the holder is seen against the wall. A broad pillar can overhang the dish a little.
The holder is iron under an aged brass finish. Metalworkers forge each one and then work the finish over it, and the forging leaves tool marks and small differences in the surface, so no two carry the facets in the same places. The candle is not included.

Frequently Asked
What size candle does it take?
A pillar candle. It stands on the dish, which is 10.5cm across, rather than dropping into a socket.
How tall is it?
22.5cm, with the dish 10.5cm across.
What is it made from?
Iron, forged and then finished in aged brass.
Does it get hot in use?
Yes. Position the candle securely, keep it out of reach of children, wait until it has cooled fully before handling it, and never leave a burning candle unattended.
How do I look after it?
Wash it with a mild dish soap and warm water after every use to remove excess wax before it builds up, and keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners away from the finish.
