Description
The Lopa is a dining table, 200cm long, 90cm deep and 76cm high, with a top of reclaimed wood on an iron trestle base. The top is cut from reclaimed ceiling boards, which leaves the face smoother than reclaimed timber usually is, and the boards run the length of the table. The base is two splayed A-frames joined by a long central stretcher and braced diagonally, in iron finished a dark brown.
Six to eight people sit round it. At 200cm long that is three a side with one at each end, and because the base is a trestle rather than four legs, the ends stay clear and nobody sits astride a leg. The 90cm depth leaves room for plates down both sides and serving dishes down the middle.
The top is reclaimed wood and the base is iron. Ceiling boards are taken down, cut and made up into a new top, so the colour, the grain and the old marks differ from table to table. The Lopa is also made in a large size, at 240cm long and the same depth and height.

Reclaimed ceiling wood, on an iron base.
How heavy is it?
123.8kg.
How do I look after it?
The furniture is sealed before it leaves, but it still wants looking after. Wipe the surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth, and use mild soap and water sparingly, always along the grain. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive materials away from it, use mats and coasters under anything wet, and soak up spills at once, then dry the surface. Keep it out of strong direct sunlight, which fades the wood, and away from extremes of heat and humidity, which crack and split it. Do not leave rubber or plastic standing on the surface for long periods.
