Lodi is a candle holder made entirely of sandstone, 18cm long, 7cm wide and 25.5cm tall, with two upright arms that each hold a candle at the top. A deep, rounded notch dips between the arms, and two soft, pebble-like openings pass right through the body, so you can see straight through the stone. The beige surface carries a marbled pattern that drifts across the piece in loose waves. Sandstone forms in layers of compacted sand, and that layering gives the stone its banded, marbled markings, so the pattern belongs to the material itself.
