Description

Our Livi side table is a narrow, two-tier piece that sets a marble top into a mango wood frame. The marble is a rectangular slab with softly rounded corners, held between two wooden rails that run along its long sides. Four squared legs splay outwards at an angle, and a mango shelf spans them partway down, running out a little past the legs at each end. The wood is a warm brown with an open, visible grain, and fine veining wanders freely across the stone. It measures 61cm long, 30cm wide and 57cm tall.

The 30cm width is what makes it useful. It takes very little floor depth, so it fits where a deeper table would crowd the room: against the wall at the end of a sofa, in a narrow hallway or on a landing, or beside a bed as a slim bedside table. At 57cm tall it sits comfortably next to a sofa or armchair, within easy reach from your seat. The marble top gives a cool, hard surface for a vase of flowers, a plant pot or a reading lamp, and the lower shelf keeps books, magazines or a small basket off the floor and out of the way.

The table has a polished, lacquered finish; lacquer forms a hard, sealed coat over wood. Marble is a natural stone, so every slab carries its own pattern of veining. Small fixings tucked under the top and the shelf join them to the legs.
