Description

The Linsy is a ribbed glass vase in a smoked brown, 30cm tall and 25cm across, with an opening of 9cm at the top. The ribs are formed in the mould rather than cut afterwards, so they run the height of the body, and the glass carries a soft lustre that deepens the colour where the wall is thickest.

The 9cm opening is narrow against a 25cm body, so stems gather and stand upright in it rather than spreading out flat. That suits a handful of long stems better than a wide loose arrangement. At 30cm it is tall enough for a mantelpiece or the middle of a table, and it is for indoor use.

The glass is recycled. Waste glass is collected, washed to take out impurities, crushed and melted down, then hand blown into a mould to take both its shape and its grooves. Because the blowing is done by hand the wall thickness and the depth of the colour vary from vase to vase. The Linsy is made in a small and a large, in smoke brown and in clear.

30cm tall and 25cm across, with a 9cm opening.

Is the glass recycled?

Yes. Waste glass is collected and washed to take out impurities, then crushed, melted down and blown into a mould.

What suits it?

Fresh stems. The opening is 9cm, so a gathered bunch stands upright in it rather than spreading out.

How do I look after it?

Wipe it over with a soft damp cloth. Hand wash only, with a mild dish soap, and do not leave it to soak. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners away from it.
