Linsy Large Ribbed Glass Vase - Smoke Brown

The Linsy is a ribbed glass vase, 40cm tall and 24cm across the body, blown in a smoked brown glass. Grooves run the height of the vase, taken from the mould the glass is blown into rather than cut afterwards, and they break the light down the surface instead of letting it pass straight through. The mouth opens to 10cm.

A 10cm mouth takes an armful of loose stems rather than one or two, and at 40cm the vase carries most of the height itself, so the stems standing in it need not be long ones. It is made for a shelf, a side table or a mantelpiece, where the ribbing is read from the side and at close range. The brown is deep enough to hold its colour against a pale wall and to read almost black against a dark one.

The vase is glass, and it is made from recycled glass. Waste glass is collected and cleaned to take out the impurities, then crushed and melted down, and the molten glass is hand blown into a mould that gives the vase both its shape and its grooves. Once it has cooled it is finished with a soft lustre, which is what deepens the brown and puts the sheen on the surface. The Linsy is also made in a smaller size, and in clear glass.

Is it made in other sizes or colours?

Yes. There is a smaller Linsy vase, and the same vase is made in clear glass.

Can it go outside?

No. Indoor use only.

How do I look after it?

Wipe it regularly with a soft, damp cloth. Hand wash only, using a mild dish soap, and do not leave it to soak. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
