Description

This is a set of three wall hooks, each one cut as a small bird and painted in multicoloured tones, so a bare stretch of wall gets a little flock instead of a row of plain pegs. The three birds are all different: one flies with its wings raised, while the other two sit perched, each with a separate wing laid over its body. Fine lines on the wings and tails pick out the feathers, and every bird has a painted eye and beak. Each one rests on a short, round peg that does the real work of the hook. At 10cm wide, they are compact pieces that look as much like decoration as a fitting.

They suit a child's bedroom, nursery or playroom, anywhere small things need a place off the floor. Each peg takes a light canvas bag or a little woven basket by its handle, which keeps soft toys, hats and odds and ends gathered and in view. Fixed in a row at a low height, they let a child hang up their own things, and a tidy-up becomes something they can manage for themselves. Spaced apart, the three birds look as though they are calling to one another across the wall; grouped closely, they make a small burst of colour beside a cot, a bed or a changing table.

The hooks are made of MDF and iron, and the birds are finished in water based paint. The layered wings stand slightly proud of the bodies, so each bird has a little depth on the wall rather than sitting flat like a sticker.
