Description

Our Ledger vase is white stoneware with a character all its own: a speckled, pitted surface, a wavy rim and two loop handles of different sizes, one tall and open, the other a smaller round ring. It is 26cm long, 15cm wide and 21cm tall, and the body flares from a narrow foot to a wide mouth, so a loose bunch of stems can fan out rather than stand stiffly. One side carries a heavier, drip-like band towards the rim while the other is evenly speckled from foot to rim, which means it gives you two looks in one piece. Stoneware is a dense clay fired at high temperature, and at 1.25KG this vase feels substantial in the hand.

At 21cm tall it is a mid-height vase, low enough for the centre of a dining table without blocking the view across it, and right for a sideboard, a mantelpiece, a hallway console or a bookshelf in the living room. The wide mouth suits dried grasses, faux branches or a generous handful of stems, and the handles make it easy to lift and move from room to room.
