Description

This side plate is made of 100% stoneware in green, 20cm across and 2cm tall, with a fluted rim that rises in soft ridges all the way round the edge. The glaze is a solid coloured green with a fine speckle running through it, and a thin darker line traces the scalloped outline, which gives the plate a soft, relaxed look on the table. At 20cm it is a true side plate size: smaller than a dinner plate, roomier than a saucer, and right for the many small meals of a day.

Use it for toast or a croissant at breakfast, a slice of cake in the afternoon, or bread and butter beside a dinner plate in the evening. It makes a good starter or dessert plate when friends visit, and it is a handy size for cheese, fruit or a few small bites laid out for sharing. It suits everyday family meals as well as the occasional dinner party, and the green sits comfortably in a farmhouse kitchen, a modern dining room or on an open shelf between meals.

Stoneware is fired at a high temperature, which makes it dense and hard-wearing, and the glaze covers the plate in one solid colour.
