Large Mango Wood Pizza Board - Natural

A round mango wood serving board, 46cm across and 2cm thick, with a short rectangular handle running off one side. A hole is bored through the end of the handle and a leather thong is threaded through it and knotted into a loop. Measured from the end of the handle to the far edge of the disc the board is 59cm long. It weighs 2.2kg.

The disc is 46cm across, wide enough to carry a whole pizza to the table, and it works as well for cheese, antipasti or bread. The handle gives somewhere to take hold of it with both the board and the food on it, and the leather loop means it can hang from a hook on a wall or the side of a dresser rather than being stacked flat in a cupboard. The board is food safe.

The board is mango wood in a natural finish. Mango is grown first for its fruit, harvested over a number of years, and the trees are cut for timber only once they have stopped bearing, which gives the farmers who grow them a second income from the same land. Every board is made by hand, so the grain runs differently across each one. The same board is also made in a medium.

How big is it?

The disc is 46cm across and 2cm thick. With the handle the board measures 59cm end to end.

Is it food safe?

Yes.

What is the leather tie for?

It runs through a hole in the handle and knots into a loop, so the board can hang from a hook.

Is it only for pizza?

No. It serves cheese, antipasti or bread just as well.

How do I look after it?

Wash it in warm soapy water, then rinse and dry it straight away rather than leaving it to stand wet. Rubbing an edible oil such as olive or walnut into the wood with a cloth will feed and protect it, though it will darken the tone.
