Description

This is a wide, shallow stoneware bowl, 26.5cm across and 7cm tall, with a multicoloured glaze that swirls and pools across the inside and a rim that gently rises and dips rather than running in a perfect circle. It holds 1300ml, which makes it a serving bowl rather than one for a single portion: generous enough for a salad for the table, a pasta to share or a heap of roast vegetables, yet low enough that everything stays easy to reach with a spoon. At 1KG it feels solid in the hand without being awkward to pass along the table.

We picture it on the kitchen table for a midweek supper and on the dining table when friends come round, filled with dressed leaves, a grain salad or a pile of fruit. Because the sides are low and the opening wide, food spreads out and stays on show, so even a simple bowl of leaves with a squeeze of lemon looks inviting.
