Konnie Ribbed Glass Bathroom Ceiling Light - Clear

The Konnie ceiling light holds a ribbed glass globe close under the ceiling. A flat brass plate fixes overhead, a short stem drops from it through a turned collar, and a brass gallery takes the globe from above on knurled thumbscrews. The globe is clear, ribbed from the collar down to the base and 24cm across, and the whole fitting hangs 32.5cm below the ceiling.

A drop of 32.5cm is short enough to clear a head in a room of ordinary height, which is what separates this from a pendant on a long flex. The globe is open at the base and ribbed around its sides, so light goes straight down onto the floor and outward through the glass at the same time. It takes one E27 bulb up to 25W and it is dimmable. It is rated IP44, which covers splashing and allows it in a bathroom. The cord runs 40cm.

The globe is glass and the plate, stem and gallery are metal finished in brass. The globe is moulded, so the ribbing and the thickness of the glass vary between fittings and each one seats a little differently in its gallery. The Konnie range also holds a wall light that hangs the same globe from a swan neck. Bulbs are not included.

How much headroom does it take?

It hangs 32.5cm below the ceiling and the globe is 24cm across. Under a 2.4m ceiling that leaves a little over 2m clear, which is enough to walk beneath without ducking.

Will one light a whole bathroom?

In a small or medium room, yes, because the open base throws light down and the ribbed sides spread it. In a long room it is better paired with light at the mirror.

Is it the same globe as the wall light?

Yes. Both fittings in the range are built around it, so a wall pair and this overhead read as one set.

How do I clean it?

Switch it off at the wall and let the glass cool. A dry microfibre cloth is enough. Keep abrasives and harsh chemicals off the brass.
