Knightsbridge 6ft 38W Modular LED Batten 4000K - White

The Knightsbridge BATM6 is a 6ft (1790mm) modular LED batten delivering 5,250lm at 4000K cool white from an integrated 38W LED module. The pressed steel housing with an opal polycarbonate diffuser provides wide-angle uniform light across commercial ceilings, service corridors, warehouses, back-of-house retail areas and plant rooms requiring bright functional illumination.

The modular design accepts plug-in emergency conversion kits (MODEMKIT) and microwave motion sensors (MODMWS) without re-wiring, making the batten adaptable to fire safety and energy-saving requirements after initial installation. The hinged gear tray opens for tool-free access to push-fit loop terminals, and conduit entries at both ends of the housing allow cables to enter from either direction or from the rear. The batten mounts on standard 600mm fixing centres and is compatible with BESA boxes for UK ceiling installation standards.

The 38W LED module operates on 230V mains with a constant-current driver housed inside the gear tray. The 120-degree beam angle provides even distribution across walkways and work areas without creating hot spots or heavy shadows. The opal diffuser softens the light output and hides the LED array from direct view when installed at typical ceiling heights of 2.4-3.6m. The batten carries an IP20 rating, restricting use to dry indoor environments, and is rated for a 100,000-hour L70B50 lifespan (approximately 11 years of continuous operation).

Can this batten be fitted with an emergency backup?

Yes. The BATM6 accepts Knightsbridge's MODEMKIT emergency conversion module, which plugs into the gear tray without re-wiring the mains supply. The emergency kit provides three-hour backup lighting in the event of a power failure.

What mounting centres does it use?

The batten mounts on standard 600mm fixing centres and is compatible with BESA boxes for UK commercial and industrial ceiling installations. Conduit entries are available at both ends and from the rear of the housing.

Is the LED module replaceable?

The LED module is integrated and not user-replaceable. The 100,000-hour L70B50 rating means the module will maintain at least 70% of its original lumen output after approximately 11 years of continuous operation, after which the entire fitting would typically be replaced.

Can it be used in damp or outdoor locations?

No. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor environments only. For areas with moisture or dust exposure, an IP-rated batten such as Knightsbridge's IP65 vapour-proof range would be required.
