Description

The Knightsbridge BATM4 is a 4ft modular LED batten delivering 2,800lm at 4000K cool white from an integrated 20W LED. The pressed steel body houses a hinged gear tray with push-fit terminals, an opal polycarbonate diffuser, and rear and end conduit entry points spaced to BESA standards. The modular design allows optional microwave sensing and emergency kit integration using Knightsbridge MODMWS and MODEMKIT accessories (sold separately).

Designed for corridors, changing rooms, storage areas, back-of-house access routes and secondary circulation spaces where moderate lumen output is needed without the footprint of higher-wattage battens. The 1225mm length suits standard 4ft spacing on commercial ceilings, and the 61mm width keeps the fitting discreet on surface-mount installations. The 120-degree beam angle provides broad distribution suitable for general illumination rather than task lighting.

The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations. The white powder-coated finish blends with most commercial ceiling and wall surfaces. The hinged gear tray allows access to the driver and terminals for maintenance without removing the entire fitting from the ceiling, and the push-fit terminals accept solid or stranded cable without the need for ferrules. The constant-current driver operates on 230V 50Hz mains and is non-dimmable.

The integrated LED is rated for 100,000 hours L70B50 lifespan, meaning that after 100,000 hours of operation at least 70% of the LEDs will still be producing at least 70% of their original lumen output. The 136lm/W efficacy at the light source level gives an energy rating of Class D under the 2021 Supplier Labelling Regulation. The fitting carries a 5-year manufacturer warranty.

Can this batten be used in bathrooms or damp areas?

No. The IP20 rating limits the batten to dry indoor locations only. For bathrooms, damp stores or outdoor canopies a fitting with at least IP44 protection is required.

What does modular mean for this batten?

Modular means the batten accepts optional plug-in accessories from Knightsbridge, specifically the MODMWS microwave sensor and the MODEMKIT emergency conversion kit. These accessories are sold separately and allow the batten to be upgraded to motion-activated or maintained emergency operation without replacing the entire fitting.

Is the batten dimmable?

No. The constant-current driver is not compatible with dimmer switches or DALI dimming systems. The output is fixed at 2,800lm when powered on.

What cable entry options are available?

The batten provides rear cable entry points and end cable entry points, spaced to BESA standards. This allows the fitting to be daisy-chained or fed from a ceiling or wall-mounted junction box depending on site wiring.
