Description

This wine glass has a homely shape: a rounded, straight-sided bowl on a short, thick stem and a wide foot, made from 100% recycled glass. Around the bowl runs a frosted pattern of nested diamonds set among fields of small dots, which reads crisply against the clear glass and keeps the look relaxed rather than formal. It holds 230ml and stands 13cm tall and 7.5cm across, so it is a compact glass, nearer a goblet in spirit than a tall, thin-stemmed wine glass.

At 230ml it suits a modest glass of wine at the dinner table, and it is just as useful for water, juice or a cordial with lunch. The low stem and wide foot give it an easy, everyday character, so it fits a family supper, a kitchen table laid for friends or a long lunch in the garden as well as a more dressed-up evening. Between meals it looks at home on an open kitchen shelf or behind the doors of a glass-fronted dresser, where the frosted pattern stays on show. A few gathered on a tray make a simple drinks station on a sideboard.

Recycled glass is glass that has been melted down and formed again, and this one is made entirely from it.
