Description
The Kenyasi is a glass vase that stands 32.5cm tall and measures 18cm in diameter. It has a broad, rounded shoulder that tapers gently towards the base, finished with a short, straight collar around the neck. The glass is a mirrored silver at the top and fades through a smoky band into clear glass at the foot, so the upper half reflects the light and the room around it while the stems stay visible through the clear lower half.
As a piece of home decor it belongs indoors, and it sits well on a sideboard, a hall console, a mantelpiece or the middle of a dining table. The 8cm opening gathers a handful of stems and holds them upright, which makes it a good match for a few heads of hydrangea, a bunch of tulips or a loose cluster of eucalyptus, fresh or faux. The 3.5 litre capacity gives cut flowers plenty of water, so you will be topping it up less often. We like the way the mirrored top picks up chrome, nickel and other glass nearby, while the clear base keeps the whole piece looking light rather than heavy.
The vase is glass, and glass is non-porous, so it does not absorb the water it holds. The mirrored silver covers the collar and shoulder and gives way to clear glass towards the foot, which means a falling water level shows at a glance and you can see when the flowers need fresh water. As a practical note, fill it from a jug once it is in place, because 3.5 litres of water adds real weight to a vase that weighs 1.08KG empty.
