Description

A twelve-piece stoneware dinner set for four: four dinner plates, four side plates and four bowls. Every piece carries the same border of thin blue lines, cut into the clay first and then painted by hand, radiating in from the rim towards a plain cream centre. The lines vary a little in weight and in spacing around each rim, and the centre of every piece is left bare.

Twelve pieces lays a table for four. Against the cream the blue reads closer to navy than to mid blue. Stacked together the set stands 36.5cm tall and 27cm across, so it occupies a single shelf of a cupboard.

The pieces are stoneware, shaped and painted by hand in North Vietnam using long-established methods. They are dishwasher safe and food safe. The Karuma range runs wider than the set: there are dinner and side plates sold singly, cereal and serving bowls, mugs in two sizes and two jugs.
