Description

A wide shallow serving bowl in white clay, 26cm across and 7cm deep, holding 2000ml. A plain white band runs round the rim, and below it the whole outside is covered in fine vertical blue lines that run down to the foot, close enough together to read as a solid blue from across a room and as separate strokes up close. The inside is left plain white.

Seven centimetres is shallow for 26cm across, which makes this a bowl for things served in a single layer rather than piled: fruit on a counter, a salad already dressed, a pudding carried to the table. It is food safe and dishwasher safe.

The clay is white and the lines are etched and painted by hand in Vietnam, so the spacing varies round the bowl and no two carry the same run of strokes. The surface is glazed. Karuma also runs as dinner and side plates, a cereal bowl, mugs, jugs and a set of twelve.

Frequently Asked

How big is it?

26cm across and 7cm deep, holding 2000ml.

Is it dishwasher safe?

Yes, and food safe.

How is the pattern made?

The lines are etched and painted by hand, so the spacing varies round the bowl and no two are identical.

What else is in the range?

Dinner and side plates, a cereal bowl, mugs, jugs and a set of twelve.

How should I wash it?

After every use, with a mild detergent, to prevent staining. Do not leave it to soak, and handle it carefully to prevent chipping.
