Description

A round dinner plate in white clay, 24.5cm across and 2.5cm deep, with a plain cream well and a rim carrying a band of fine blue lines that radiate outward from the well to the edge. The lines are not all the same length, so the inner edge of the band comes out jagged rather than as a true circle. Each one is cut into the clay first and painted afterwards.

Twenty-four and a half centimetres is a dinner plate rather than a charger, and because the pattern sits entirely on the rim a served plate covers none of it. It is food safe and dishwasher safe.

The clay is white and the surface is glazed. The lines are etched into the clay by hand and then painted, one at a time, in north Vietnam, so the spacing and the lengths differ on every plate. Karuma also runs as a side plate, a cereal bowl, a serving bowl, mugs, jugs and a set of twelve.

Frequently Asked

How big is it?

24.5cm across and 2.5cm deep.

Is it dishwasher safe?

Yes, and food safe.

How is the pattern made?

The thin blue lines are etched into the clay first and then hand painted, so no two plates carry the same spacing.

Where is it made?

North Vietnam.

What else is in the range?

A side plate, a cereal bowl, a serving bowl, mugs, jugs and a set of twelve.

How should I wash it?

After every use, with a mild detergent, to prevent staining. Do not leave it to soak, and handle it carefully to prevent chipping.
