Description
The Kara is a 24W recessed LED panel light with a 296mm diameter white polycarbonate face and edge-lit LED technology that distributes 2270 lumens of 4000K cool white light evenly across the panel surface. The integrated SMD LEDs sit around the perimeter of the panel behind an opal diffuser, creating uniform illumination without visible hotspots or dark zones. The panel mounts into a 285mm ceiling cut-out and projects only 24mm below the ceiling line once installed.
Designed for offices, corridors, retail spaces and residential rooms where flush ceiling lighting is needed without the depth for a traditional downlight, the Kara fits ceiling voids as shallow as 75mm. The slim profile makes it compatible with ceilings where structural depth is limited, including suspended ceilings, plasterboard on battens, and timber joists with minimal clearance above. The panel operates on 230V mains with a constant-current driver housed within the fitting, and is dimmable when paired with a compatible LED dimmer.
The white polycarbonate construction gives the panel a neutral finish that blends into white ceilings, and the Class II double-insulated design means no earth connection is required during installation. The 110° beam angle provides broad room coverage from a ceiling-mounted position, making a single panel suitable for illuminating approximately 8-10m² of floor area depending on ceiling height and required lux levels. The CRI rating of >80 renders colours accurately enough for general workspace and domestic use.
The L70B50 rating of 30,000 hours means the LEDs will maintain at least 70% of their initial brightness after 30,000 hours of operation, equating to approximately 10 years at 8 hours per day. Knightsbridge offers a compatible emergency conversion kit (EMKIT2L, sold separately) that converts the Kara into emergency lighting for commercial installations requiring fire-safety-compliant maintained or non-maintained emergency illumination.

Frequently Asked
What ceiling void depth is required?
The Kara requires a minimum 75mm void above the ceiling surface to accommodate the panel depth and driver. The panel itself projects 24mm below the ceiling line once installed, and the cut-out diameter is 285mm.
Is the Kara suitable for bathrooms?
No. The IP20 rating means the panel is not protected against moisture ingress and must only be installed in dry interior locations outside bathroom zones.
Is it dimmable?
Yes, but dimmer compatibility depends on the specific dimmer model. Knightsbridge recommends confirming compatibility with your chosen dimmer before installation, as not all LED dimmers work reliably with this constant-current driver.
Can it be converted to emergency lighting?
Yes. Knightsbridge produces a compatible emergency conversion kit (model EMKIT2L, sold separately) that converts the Kara into maintained or non-maintained emergency lighting for commercial fire-safety compliance.
