Description

The Knightsbridge Kara is an 18W LED recessed panel light with a 224mm diameter white polycarbonate trim ring and an opal diffuser. The integrated SMD LED array delivers 1800 lumens at 4000K cool white, powered by a constant-current driver that supports dimming when paired with a compatible dimmer. The panel requires a 205mm cut-out diameter and a minimum 75mm ceiling void depth for installation.

Designed for offices, corridors, kitchens and commercial spaces where consistent overhead lighting is needed without excessive ceiling depth, the Kara uses edge-lit LED technology to distribute light evenly across the diffuser surface. The 24mm recess depth means the panel sits almost flush with the ceiling plane once installed, minimising visual intrusion. The 110-degree beam angle provides wide coverage, reducing the number of fittings needed to light a given floor area.

The polycarbonate construction and Class II double-insulated design mean no earth connection is required during installation. The IP20 rating limits the Kara to dry indoor locations — bathrooms and outdoor applications require IP44 or higher. The driver is rated for 30,000 hours at L70B50, meaning the LED output will still be above 70% of its initial brightness after 30,000 hours of use. The panel is compatible with Knightsbridge's EMKIT2L emergency lighting kit, allowing it to function as maintained or non-maintained emergency lighting where required by building regulations.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

What's the difference between the 1800lm and 2335lm figures?

The 2335lm figure is the raw LED output at the source. The 1800lm figure accounts for losses through the diffuser and driver efficiency, so it represents the actual light output from the panel once installed.
