Description

The Kairos is an 87cm wall clock built from bevelled silver mirror segments mounted onto a solid MDF base, with glossy black Roman numerals and a central quartz mechanism. The open-face design has no backing panel, so the wall behind becomes part of the clock's negative space and the mirrored outer ring reflects the room around it.

Designed for large living rooms, dining rooms, office reception areas and commercial interiors with wall heights of 2.4m or above, the Kairos sits comfortably on walls 3-4m wide where an 87cm diameter doesn't dominate the entire surface. The reflective segments add light and dimension in rooms with natural daylight or strategically placed lamps, and the 7cm projection from the wall gives the clock a sculptural presence rather than sitting flat like a traditional clock face.

The bevelled mirror segments catch and refract light differently depending on viewing angle and time of day, so the clock reads differently in morning versus evening light. The black Roman numerals and hour markers provide high contrast against both the silver mirror and the wall behind, making the time readable from across a room. At 10kg the clock needs two wall fixings into solid masonry or timber studs rather than plasterboard alone.

The quartz mechanism runs on standard AA batteries (not included) and provides accurate timekeeping without audible ticking in quiet rooms. The MDF base is lacquered black on the reverse to match the Roman numerals, so even when viewed at an angle from the side the clock maintains a cohesive black-and-silver palette.

Frequently Asked

What wall fixings are needed?

At 10kg the Kairos requires two secure wall fixings into solid masonry, brick or timber studs. Plasterboard alone will not support the weight safely. Use appropriate wall plugs and screws rated for the wall type.

Does the clock tick audibly?

The quartz mechanism is silent or near-silent in most rooms. In very quiet spaces with hard surfaces you may hear a faint tick, but it's significantly quieter than mechanical clocks.

Are batteries included?

No. The clock requires standard AA batteries (not included). Insert batteries into the rear mechanism compartment once the clock is mounted on the wall.

Can the mirrored segments be cleaned?

Yes. Use a soft microfibre cloth with a standard glass or mirror cleaner. Spray the cleaner onto the cloth rather than directly onto the mirror to avoid liquid running behind the segments into the mechanism.
