Description

The Kabir is a rectangular cushion cover, 60cm by 40cm, woven on a handloom in wool and cotton. The ground is an undyed natural, flecked with the darker fibres that come with it, and a single large motif is woven into the centre in rust: a stepped diamond with hooked arms reaching out to either side. The motif is worked in the weave rather than printed or stitched on.

At 60 by 40cm it is a lumbar cushion, and it sits in front of the square cushions on a sofa rather than behind them, where the single motif shows whole. A pair sits side by side at the centre of a sofa rather than out in the corners. On an armchair one fills the base of the back on its own.

The yarn is wool and cotton, woven together on a traditional Indian handloom to give a fabric that is hard wearing and still soft to the hand. The natural ground is undyed, so the fleck in it comes from the fibre itself rather than from a print. This is the cover only and no inner comes with it.
