Kabir 50 x 50cm Wool Cushion Cover - Rust

The Kabir is a square cushion cover, 50 x 50cm, flat woven in wool and cotton. The ground is a pale oatmeal left at the tone of the yarn, and a single stepped medallion sits across the middle of it: two serrated rust blocks meeting point to point, with a band of caramel running between them and out to a notched edge on each side. The pattern is woven in rather than printed, and the caramel yarn is streaked, so the colour shifts along the width of the band.

At 50 x 50cm this is the square in the Kabir range and the 60 x 40cm is the rectangle, both carrying the same medallion, so the two shapes can sit together on one sofa without repeating each other. The motif is centred and covers about the middle third of the face, which keeps it above the line where the lower edge tucks behind a seat cushion. Paired on a pale linen three seater, the oatmeal ground sits close to the upholstery and only the rust and the caramel stand away from it.

The yarns are wool and cotton and the cover is woven on a traditional Indian handloom. Each one is woven singly, so the steps of the medallion do not land identically from cover to cover and the ground shifts a little in tone across the face. The Kabir runs in this one colourway and in two sizes.

How do I look after it?

Lift any liquid with an absorbent tissue first, then blot the area with a sponge or a folded towel moistened in lukewarm water, and dry it with warm air from a hair dryer so that it does not water mark. Larger or more stubborn stains should go to a professional.
