Description
A round ceramic dinner plate 27.5cm across, with a plain cream well and a wide rim painted in concentric rings of deep green drops. Each drop is a teardrop laid with its round end outward and its point turned in toward the centre, and the rings run from larger drops at the inner edge of the rim down to fine ones at the outside. A few drops in the ring nearest the well print pale grey-green rather than deep green, where the brush has run dry.
At 27.5cm this is a full dinner plate rather than a charger, and the well is wide enough that a served plate covers the centre and leaves the outer rings showing all the way round. It is food safe, dishwasher safe and microwave safe, so it goes from the table to the machine rather than being kept back for best.
The body is ceramic and the pattern is painted by hand in Vietnam, one drop at a time, so the spacing and the depth of the green vary from plate to plate. Juniper Drop runs across a whole table: a 22.5cm side plate, cereal and pasta bowls, a cup and saucer, mugs, jugs, a teapot, a butter dish, egg cups, two serving bowls and a set of twelve.
