Description

A butter dish in two parts. The lid is a tapered box, wider at the base than at the top, with a flat top and an arched loop handle laid across it, and a single row of dark green drops runs round all four sides just below the shoulder, each one round at the head and drawn to a point below. The tray beneath is a shallow rectangle with a flared rim, 17cm long and 13cm deep, carrying the same drops round the inside of the lip. With the lid on the two stand 11.5cm tall.

Seventeen centimetres by thirteen takes a block of butter laid flat with room for a knife beside it, and the handle is a loop rather than a knob, so it comes up with two fingers rather than a pinch. The lid sits down inside the flared rim of the tray rather than over the outside of it. It is food safe.

The body is ceramic and the drops are brushed on by hand in Vietnam, so no two rows sit at the same spacing. Juniper Drop runs to dinner and side plates, cereal and pasta bowls, serving bowls in two sizes, mugs, jugs, a teapot and a cup and saucer.
