This dinner plate is made of stoneware and finished in a multicoloured reactive glaze, 28.5cm across and 2cm tall. At that size it takes a full main course with room for sides, so it works as the main plate at every place. The glaze is the reason to choose it. A reactive glaze shifts as it fires, breaking into speckles, soft pools and feathered edges where the colours meet, so the markings vary a little from one plate to the next. The rim is gently raised and carries a fine speckled line around the edge, which frames the food and gives the plate a finished look.
