Description

This is a deep stoneware bowl in cream, 15.5cm across and 8.5cm tall, finished in a reactive glaze that gives the whole surface a sense of movement. It holds 750ml, a properly generous measure: a full portion of soup, a heaped bowl of cereal or a big helping of noodles. Inside, the glaze pools into a glossy, speckled patch that catches the light, while a fine darker line traces the softly uneven rim. Reactive glazes respond to the heat of the kiln, so no two pieces come out quite alike.

It earns its place on the kitchen or dining table every day of the week: porridge or yoghurt in the morning, a salad at lunch, ramen or a bowl of stew in the evening.
