Description

This small bowl is made from 100% stoneware, 13cm across and 6cm tall, with a 300ml capacity that suits a single portion of rice, yoghurt, soup or fruit rather than a full main course. It is finished in a glossy reactive glaze, multicoloured, with darker and paler sweeps that cross the inside and run down the outer wall in soft, flowing drips. A reactive glaze moves as it fires, so no two bowls come out exactly alike, and that small variation is much of the charm of a stoneware bowl like this one.

At breakfast it is the right size for granola, porridge or a handful of berries, and at dinner it takes a side of rice, a dipping sauce, olives or a small dessert. It sits neatly beside a dinner plate on a laid table, and it earns its place in the kitchen too, holding chopped herbs, grated cheese or nuts while you cook. Because the glaze carries several tones at once, the bowl looks at home on a dark wooden table, a pale linen cloth or a busy everyday counter, and it mixes easily with plain plates you already own.
