Description

This is a wide, shallow stoneware bowl, 25cm across and 6.5cm tall, finished in a multicoloured reactive glaze with a fine crackle running through it. The glaze sweeps across the inside and down the outer wall in broad, uneven bands, so the outside is as lively as the inside. At 2000ml it is a serving bowl rather than a bowl for one: roomy enough for a sharing salad or a pasta dish for the whole table, yet low enough that everything stays within easy reach of the serving spoon.

Set it in the middle of the kitchen or dining table for a long weekend lunch, heaped with roast vegetables, a grain salad or a tangle of noodles, and pass it along the table. Between meals it earns a place on a dresser or an open shelf, where the glaze can be seen, or on a sideboard filled with fruit.
