Jude 1 Light Glass Pendant - Matte Black

The Jude is a single-light glass pendant built around a 305mm clear glass dome suspended from a matte black canopy on a cylindrical black stem. The dome sits open at the base, allowing an E27 bulb (sold separately) to drop into the centre of the glass where it's visible from below but shielded by the dome's curve when viewed from the side. The black metal components contrast with the clear glass to create a defined outline.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and hallway pendants, the Jude's adjustable drop ranges from 559mm minimum to 1583mm maximum on installation, allowing the pendant to be set 600-750mm above a worktop or 750-900mm above a dining table depending on ceiling height. The 305mm diameter provides enough visual presence to anchor a space without overwhelming narrow islands or small dining zones. The pendant works as a single fitting over a round table or in multiples spaced 800-1000mm apart along a 2.4-3m island.

The matte black finish on the canopy and stem provides a low-sheen surface that reduces reflections under daylight and pairs with both warm-toned and monochrome contemporary interiors. The clear glass dome weighs less than tinted or frosted alternatives, reducing stress on the ceiling rose, and allows maximum light transmission from whatever bulb is chosen. The E27 fitting accepts LED, halogen or decorative filament bulbs up to 60W, giving flexibility to match the colour temperature and brightness to the room's function.

What bulb does the Jude take?

The pendant takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K, or a decorative filament bulb where the bulb itself becomes part of the visual design.

What ceiling height is needed?

The adjustable drop ranges from 559mm to 1583mm on installation. For a kitchen island the pendant typically hangs 600-750mm above the worktop, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. For dining tables, a 750-900mm clearance above the table surface is typical, requiring 2.5m+ ceilings.

Can multiple Jude pendants be installed in a row?

Yes. For kitchen islands between 2.4-3m long, two or three Jude pendants spaced 800-1000mm apart provide balanced coverage without crowding. Each pendant needs its own ceiling rose and wiring point.

How is the glass dome cleaned?

The clear glass dome can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth and standard glass cleaner once the bulb is removed and the pendant is switched off. The open base of the dome gives easy access to the inner surface without needing to dismantle the fitting.
