Description

This is a round stoneware plant pot, 16.5cm across and 15cm tall, finished in a green reactive glaze. Its sides are drawn into vertical grooves that run from rim to base, so the body swells gently through the middle and flares into a softly scalloped rim, rather like a flower bud about to open. A reactive glaze moves and pools as it fires, and here it gathers in the grooves, deepening towards the base and paling near the rim, which gives the green real depth from every angle. At 0.9KG it has a reassuring weight in the hand.

We like the size for a small houseplant: a fern, a trailing pothos or a young palm sits happily in a pot of this width, and the low, rounded outline keeps it at home on a windowsill, a bookshelf or a side table. Group it on the floor beside a doorway with taller planters and it adds a band of colour at ankle height, or give it a place of its own on a console in the hall, where the glaze catches the daylight. It makes a thoughtful present for anyone who keeps plants, and the green sits easily with pale woods, linen and plain walls.

The pot is made of 100% stoneware, a dense, hard-fired clay that feels solid and substantial. Because the glaze is reactive, no two pieces come out of the kiln quite alike: the way the colour runs down the grooves and the depth it reaches at the base will differ a little on yours, which is part of the appeal. The styling props shown are not included, so it arrives as an empty pot ready for your own plant. For a simple finishing touch, set it slightly off centre on a shelf beside a short stack of books and let the foliage spill over the scalloped rim.

Frequently Asked

What material is the plant pot?

It is made of 100% stoneware, a dense, hard-fired clay, and finished in a reactive glaze. It weighs 0.9KG, so it feels solid rather than flimsy.

How big is the pot?

It measures 16.5cm across and 15cm tall, a comfortable size for a small houseplant on a windowsill, a shelf or a side table.

Will my pot match the photographs exactly?

Not exactly, and that is the charm of it. A reactive glaze moves as it fires, so the way the green runs down the grooves varies a little from piece to piece.

What colour is the glaze?

It is a green reactive glaze that gathers in the vertical grooves, so the tone deepens towards the base and softens near the scalloped rim.

What plants suit a pot this size?

At 16.5cm across it suits a small fern, a trailing pothos or a young palm, the kind of houseplant that sits happily on a windowsill or a side table.

Is a plant included with the pot?

No. The pot comes on its own and the styling props shown are not included, so it arrives empty and ready for a plant of your own choosing.
